Another trainer made from hemp canvas - a second collaboration with our friends at Buddy Hemp Goods 🤝⁣

Just like the first pair, these trainers are the end result of a year’s worth of back and forth with our favourite t-shirt brand, who’ve been championing hemp since 2018. We both share a similar goal: to take two everyday items in one’s wardrobe, tackle their manufacturing in a sustainable way, and obsess over their aesthetic details so the wearer will reach for that t-shirt and that pair of trainers over and over again. ⁣

Hemp

Incredibly strong, easy to grow and inherently organic, hemp is by a wide margin the most truly sustainable material we work with. Hemp cultivation requires no pesticides or insecticides, and only a quarter the water required of cotton. Even better, it detoxifies and regenerates the soil it’s grown in, as well as removing CO2 from the atmosphere at an impressive rate.

As a fabric hemp has similar properties to merino, being antimicrobial (low odour retention, which means it stays fresher for longer), and both insulating and breathable. It also softens with age, and is one of the most durable natural fibres on earth.

Organic Cotton

The organic cotton used throughout our trainers is grown with the intention of minimising the impact of its creation on both farmer and environment. Organic cotton is cultivated without insecticides, pesticides, synthetic fertilisers, or GMO seeds.

Natural Latex Rubber

All our outsoles and foxing sidewalls are made from natural latex rubber from the hevea brasiliensis tree, vulcanised in a pressurised kiln at 120º to fuse the sole to the upper. Flexible yet durable, natural rubber is a naturally sustainable product that’s ultimately biodegradable at the end of its life.

Cork

Natural cork is the bark taken from the quercus suber, more commonly named the cork oak. Sustainably harvested with no damage to the tree it grows upon, natural cork is inherently anti-microbial (hypoallergenic & resistant to bacteria) and hydrophobic (repels water) making it the perfect material to stand between your feet and the ground.

Ortholite® Eco™

Our insole foam is made from an environmentally friendly formulation containing both a renewable sourced castor bean oil in place of the traditional petroleum derived foam, and incorporates a percentage of recycled rubber.

Recycled Packaging

Our shoe boxes and courier bags are made from 100% post consumer paper waste and printed from plant based inks.

How to measure your feet

Start with the EU size of your best-fitting trainers (usually on the tongue label or insole). Then measure your foot from heel to longest toe and check it against the foot length column.

Naturally Sourced

In an effort to reduce the long term impact of the products we create, we go to great lengths to limit our use of synthetic materials to the bare minimum.

The uppers of these trainers are made from a beautifully textured organic hemp canvas, while the sidewall foxing and outsole are natural rubber latex from the Hevea Brasiliensis, tapped and collected by hand.

For cushioning we use Ortholite Eco® insoles derived from renewable castor oil rather than petroleum based, covered with a naturally sustainable cork veneer that helps wick moisture away from the feet.

Cool and comfy!

Love my new sneaks. They’re cool and comfy, and true to size. What’s not to like? I’m looking forward to seeing how they wear over time.

Stylish eco shoes

These look great and seem well-made. They are a lot heavier than I was expecting and the sole is quite solid, but does provide good cushioning. The after-care notes say 'If you can, avoid wearing them two days in a row so they dry out fully', which may not bode well for breathability. Haven't worn them much yet due to ongoing heatwaves, but hope to get plenty of wear in the future.

Statement Style!

The material has a natural fleck through it which I love. The black rubber sole pop paired with the black shoelaces are a great feature. These go with so many looks. They are made well & have a quality feel. So happy with them!

Love my purchase – comfy, so chic.

Should have washed my laces first as the dye rubbed onto the tongue and the canvas around the eyelets. Followed the care guide; the dye has all but gone.
